Carpooling

We definitely suggest carpooling to the #LeardBlockade. If you are driving up, please put a call out and bring up some people who need a lift. If you need a lift we might be able to sort one for you.

Get in touch with camp to let us know the departure city and dates and we will let you know if we know anyone leaving nearby in the not too distant future.

Otherwise, look around on gumtree and make some new friends. Or get your friends to come along. Some of our most welcome visitors and interesting contributors to the campaign were those who had no idea what we were about until one of us jumped in their car and said “Hey! Let’s go fight them coal giants! Ragggh!”

Interacting with Police

At times police have pulled over cars or have setup road blocks around camp Wando. Don’t worry about this as you have not done anything wrong. Please see our handy guide for interacting with Police.

Drive from Sydney/Newcastle/Melbourne/etc:

  1. Drive to and through Gunnedah
  2. Head north-west on Kamilaroi Hwy/B51 towards Chandos St. (38km)
  3. Turn right to stay on Kamilaroi Hwy/B51 (signs for Narrabri/Route 37)  (16km)
  4. Turn right onto Harparary Rd (20km)
  5. Turn left onto Black Mountain Creek Road (3.4km)
  6. Wando is the second house on the right, look for banners and lights.

Drive from the North via Narrabri

  1. From Narrabri head south-east on Maitland St. towards Dewhurst St (1.3km)
  2. Continue onto Old Gunnedah Rd (11.9km)
  3. Slight left onto Narrabri Maules Rd (2.5km)
  4. Turn right to stay on Narrabri Maules Rd (21.5km)
  5. Continue onto Timor Mountain Rd (400m)
  6. Turn left onto Harparary Rd (3.6km)
  7. Turn left onto Black Mountain Creek Road (3.4km)
  8. Wando is the second house on the right, look for banners and lights.
